Problem
Opening office 365 files (Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point) from OneDrive app take too long to open when OneDrive sync is turn on
Resolution
1. At the bottom right corner of your computer, right click the OneDrive App, and select Settings. The OneDrive icon may be found inside the up pointing arrow at the bottom right corner of your computer.
2. On OneDrive Settings, select Office at the top row of tabs
3. Uncheck Use Office applications to sync Office files that I open

Note that If you turn off this setting, Office will no longer be able to automatically merge changes from different versions of your documents. You will also be prompted to upload a new copy of a file before you can share it directly from an Office desktop app
Also note that If you are opening files from cloud storage and the file were not originally created or store on your computer, the first time you open the files locally, they have to be downloaded “on-demand,” which means that they will take longer to load.
After this first download, the files remain on your local drive and that delay should not happen again.
